The Moorish Castle
Tomb
The works commissioned by Ferdinand II damaged part of the Christian burial grounds of the church and resulted in the building of a tomb to house the bones found there. The tombstone was carved with a lunar crescent, a cross as well as the inscription: “What man brought together, only God may separate” given the inability to distinguish whether these were Christian or Moorish human remains.
