National Palace of Sintra
Queens' Room

The Queens' Room formed part of the queen's private quarters. Here, you will find interactive portraits of six queens who played a significant role in the Palace of Sintra. Each portrait remains in standby mode, with a very subtle movement, and when the visitor interacts with it, the queen comes to life and begins to speak.
The palace, the town of Sintra and its surrounding territory were granted to the Queens of Portugal for their administration. The property – the Queens’ House – remained part of the Crown, but the queen was the authority within these lands and the beneficiary of their economic revenues.
