21 Oct 2025
On Sunday, 2 November, another edition of the Sintra Trail Cruz Alta will take place — a sporting event organised by the Municipal Council of Sintra, aimed at trail runners and hiking enthusiasts. The event will lead to traffic restrictions affecting access to parks and monuments managed by Parques de Sintra, namely the National Palace of Sintra, the Park and National Palace of Pena, the Chalet of the Countess of Edla, the Moorish Castle, the Park and Palace of Monserrate, and the Convent of the Capuchos.
On this date, from 8:00 am, the following road closures and traffic restrictions will be in effect:
- Access to the town of Sintra and Volta do Duche will be closed to traffic between 8:00 am and 9:15 am.
- Traffic will be restricted on the access road to the National Palace of Pena between 8:00 am and 11:00 am.
- Traffic will be restricted on the access road to Estrada de Monserrate between 9:00 am and 1:30 pm.
Starting and finishing at Queen Amélia Square, next to the National Palace of Sintra, the Sintra Trail Cruz Alta begins at 8:15 am and passes through several of the most emblematic locations of Sintra’s town and Hills, including the Moorish Castle, the Park of Pena, High Cross, Mouco hunting grounds, and Monserrate. The event includes three different race formats, designed to suit a range of participant profiles.
