Parques de Sintra promotes training in inclusive visitor welcome

15 Jan 2026

On 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th January, around 50 members of Parques de Sintra’s Visitor Support Assistant teams are taking part in training sessions on inclusive visitor welcome, covering the themes of Autism, Neurodiversity and Accessibility. The training, delivered by APPDA - Associação Portuguesa para as Perturbações do Desenvolvimento e Autismo [Portuguese Association for Developmental Disorders and Autism], includes a theoretical framework and tools for welcoming and supporting visitors.

Aimed at staff who welcome, guide and inform the public visiting the heritage sites managed by the company, this training seeks to equip them with good practices in inclusive visitor welcome, in order to promote service quality and improve the visitor experience regardless of visitors’ characteristics and abilities, since access to the arts and culture is a right of all citizens.

In line with Parques de Sintra’s Strategic Development Plan, the initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to the quality of the visitor experience and to the enhancement of its employees, encouraging their development and fostering excellence in the performance of their duties.

In this way, the company continues its objective of improving accessibility conditions at the properties under its management and establishing them as examples of best practice in accessible tourism and equality of opportunity in access to natural and built heritage.
