Born in Alter on February 26, 2014, he is the son of Quejovem and Europa. He came to the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art at the age of four, along with his brothers on his father's side, Jaque and Joquer, and they were joined later by another brother named Paquete. Jaqal is also the grandson of the well-known horse Rubi, who participated in the London Olympics in 2012, placing 16th in the KUR final. He is reputed to be a “quiet sort” and at the School he stands out in the Pas de Quatre and the Carousel.
