“Farewell, My Beloved Homeland! The Last Queen of Portugal at the Palace of Pena” is a theatrical visiting experience at the Palace of Pena, in Sintra, offering an exclusive and intimate way to discover the apartments of Queen Amelia of Orléans (1865–1951).

It was at the Palace of Pena that Queen Amelia received the news of the proclamation of the Republic in Portugal, in 1910. The Palace of Pena was her preferred refuge, reflecting both her fondness for Sintra and her deep appreciation of Art and Nature.

Beyond exploring the spaces once inhabited by the last Queen of Portugal to reside at the Palace of Pena, this experience seeks to bring audiences closer to the life, work and sensitivity of a Queen who developed an intense philanthropic activity, founding hospitals and several institutions linked to healthcare, social support for the disadvantaged and education. Queen Amelia also served as a nurse with the Red Cross during the First World War, practised drawing and painting, and acted as a patron of historical heritage.

An encounter with the last Queen of Portugal, where history, art, memory and emotion walk hand in hand.
