UPDATE | Monuments Closed Until 6 July

 

Following the deterioration in weather conditions over the past few hours, Parques de Sintra informs visitors that the Park and National Palace of Pena, the Moorish Castle, the Convent of the Capuchos and the Peninha Sanctuary will remain closed to the public until 11.59 pm on 6 July.

 

This decision has been taken to further safeguard the safety of visitors, staff and heritage, in view of the worsening conditions within the Sintra Hills forest perimeter.

 

The Parques de Sintra monuments that will remain open to the public this weekend are therefore the National Palace of Sintra, the National Palace of Queluz and the Park and Palace of Monserrate. On Monday, the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art, at the Henrique Calado Riding Ring in Lisbon, will also be open to visitors.

 

The situation will continue to be monitored closely and will be reassessed in line with the evolution of the weather conditions.

 

Parques de Sintra advises visitors to consult its official channels before travelling and to follow the instructions issued by the authorities and on-site teams at all times.

UPDATE | Park and National Palace of Pena and Moorish Castle to close this Friday, 3 July

 

Following the evolution of the weather conditions recorded in recent hours, Parques de Sintra informs that the Park and National Palace of Pena and the Moorish Castle will be closed to the public this Friday, 3 July.

 

This decision aims to reinforce the safety of visitors, staff and heritage, taking into account the worsening conditions in the forest perimeter of the Sintra Hills.

 

Therefore, the Parques de Sintra monuments that will remain open to the public this Friday are the National Palace of Sintra and the Park and Palace of Monserrate.

 

Also closed this Friday and until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, 6 July, are the Convent of the Capuchos, the Monserrate Estate and Farm, and the Sanctuary of Peninha.

 

The situation will continue to be permanently monitored and will be reassessed according to the evolution of the weather conditions.

 

Parques de Sintra recommends that visitors check the official channels before their visit and always follow the instructions of the authorities and the teams on site.

Due to the worsening weather conditions and following the Government's declaration of an alert situation, some sites located within the forest area of the Sintra Mountains will be temporarily closed to the public from Friday, 3 July.

 

The following sites are closed: the Convent of the Capuchos, the Farmyard of Monserrate, the Sanctuary of Peninha, the Forest Park of Pena, the Chalet of the Countess of Edla and the Stables of the Park of Pena.

 

The situation will be reassessed in line with the evolution of the weather conditions and the guidance issued by the competent authorities.

The alert situation will remain in force until 11.59 pm on Monday, 6 July.
