Sintra Summer School
Since its first edition in 2024, the Sintra Summer School has established itself as a leading annual meeting dedicated to the study of courtly cultures and historical heritage, bringing together national and international specialists around a specific theme. Held each year in late August and early September, the programme takes place across some of Sintra’s most emblematic palaces, combining academic research with direct engagement with sites that once formed the setting for royal life.
With an interdisciplinary approach, the programme combines theoretical sessions with immersive activities, offering participants an in-depth understanding of the historical, social and cultural contexts under discussion. Open to students, researchers, heritage professionals and the wider public with a particular interest in the subject, the Summer School fosters debate, knowledge exchange and privileged access to sites of outstanding heritage value, contributing to the appreciation and dissemination of the historical legacy it explores.
