Convento dos Capuchos à Noite
Integrating the great granite boulders of the hills and evolving sinuously through the trees, in total harmony with the surrounding forest, this unique convent surprises by the harmony of the construction with the surrounding Nature and by the simplicity of the lives of the Franciscan friars who inhabited it for centuries, in profound dedication to contemplation and introspection.
But who were these men? Why did they live such humble lives? What did they eat, how did they sleep and how did they organize life in the community?
In celebration of the anniversary of this convent dedicated to the Holy Cross, for that reason founded on the "Day of the Invention of the Holy Cross", on May 3, 1560, Parques de Sintra offers you the unforgettable experience of visiting the Convent of the Capuchos at Night. This is a unique opportunity to know such a unique conventual house in a more intimate way, to better understand how its inhabitants lived the spirituality of this site.
Every Saturday in May, you can sign up for guided tours, lasting one hour, with several tour slots available each day at night, after the monument closes to the public. The fist visit is at 7pm and the last visit at 9.30pm. To book your visit, you must purchase the ticket online. Please see the agenda below.
