Multimedia game makes visiting the National Palace of Sintra (even) more exciting and enjoyable

22 Jul 2025

Visitors to the National Palace of Sintra now have an even more engaging way to explore its history: the Zoomguide app — the multimedia audio guide available at the monument — now includes a new game, ‘How much do you know about the Palace?,’ designed to encourage young people and families to use this tool during their visit.

As they make their way through the Palace, users will encounter challenges that test their knowledge of the National Palace of Sintra’s history. The experience becomes both more stimulating and more educational.

It is worth noting that, at the start of 2025, Parques de Sintra introduced the use of multimedia audio guides through the Zoomguide app. These audio guides are free of charge, unlimited in use, and available at the National Palaces of Pena, Sintra and Queluz, the Palace of Monserrate, the Moorish Castle, the Convent of the Capuchos and the Chalet of the Countess of Edla.

Available in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, Zoomguide offers an innovative way to explore the monuments, the historical figures who lived in them, and their collections in greater depth. It includes multimedia content — such as images, texts and audio files — entirely developed by the researchers and curators of Parques de Sintra. All content can be downloaded in advance, allowing for a fully offline visit, with no need for an internet connection.

At the National Palaces of Sintra and Queluz, visitors can also use the “scan” feature to point at collection items and instantly access related information, thanks to the integrated artificial intelligence component. In the gardens of the National Palaces of Queluz and Sintra, the Park of Monserrate and the surrounding area of the Convent of the Capuchos, the app enables navigation via an interactive map with geolocation, in both 2D and 3D versions.
