Parques de Sintra upgrades the Visitor Support Centre at the Moorish Castle

With the aim of improving the arrival experience at the Moorish Castle, Parques de Sintra has begun work to upgrade the Visitor Support Centre at the monument.

‘We will adopt a discreet, integrated design that enhances the visitor welcome, the landscape and the heritage character of the site,’ says João Sousa Rego, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Parques de Sintra, explaining that ‘in the area before the entrance to the Moorish Castle, the existing building will be replaced by a new structure featuring a wooden viewing platform, designed to blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape.’

As well as offering a place to pause and enjoy the views, the new space will provide ticket machines and serve as a meeting point and a place for visitors to rest and spend time before entering the monument.

The project, with a budget of 150,000 euros, is expected to be completed by the end of January 2027.
