Parques de Sintra and the Biester Palace, entities that manage unique heritage in Sintra, connected through history, architecture and nature, have joined forces to create a new combined ticket offer with transport included. The collaboration protocol was signed at the end of last week at the National Palace of Pena.
Designed to respond to the interests of different visitor profiles, this new offer provides three combined tickets with transport, delivering a more comfortable, integrated and sustainable visiting experience.
‘This new offer results from an integrated vision for visiting Sintra, combining heritage of great historical and artistic value with a mobility solution that makes the experience simpler, more comfortable and more sustainable. It is also an example of how cooperation between institutions can generate more attractive proposals for our visitors and contribute to a more qualified enjoyment of this unique territory,’ states João Sousa Rego, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Parques de Sintra.
In turn, Abílio Lobato dos Santos, representing the Biester Palace, emphasises: ‘Sintra should assert itself not only through the individual excellence of its monuments, but also through the integrated way in which it presents itself to visitors. With this partnership, we make a clear contribution in that direction: we create greater comfort for those who seek us out, expand the available cultural offer and strengthen the coherence of the Sintra experience as a whole.’
The National Palace of Pena + Biester Palace ticket invites visitors to discover two distinct yet complementary expressions of Romanticism in Sintra. While the National Palace of Pena, the result of the creative genius of King Ferdinand II, represents the highest expression of this artistic movement in Portugal, the Biester Palace, designed by José Luiz Monteiro and decorated by master woodcarver Leandro Braga and the Italian artist Luigi Manini, establishes a bridge between the Romantic spirit and the modernity of the late 19th century.
The National Palace of Sintra + Biester Palace ticket brings together, in a single proposal, centuries of history, art and different ways of experiencing Sintra. The millenary National Palace of Sintra, one of the preferred residences of the Portuguese monarchy, spans much of the country’s history and, over the centuries, established itself as the political, social and cultural centre of this territory. Meanwhile, the Biester Palace, built in the late 19th century during the transition from Romanticism to modernity, reveals the daily life of the family that lived there, in a setting marked by rich decoration and a diversity of stylistic influences that confer particular historical and artistic significance.
Finally, the Park and Palace of Monserrate + Biester Palace ticket offers the discovery of singular landscapes where nature and architecture merge in an exceptional way. The Park and Palace of Monserrate, a masterpiece of Romanticism, embodies the dream of Francis Cook, a 19th-century English industrialist. The palace’s exotic architecture is harmoniously integrated with lush gardens which, among ruins, hidden corners, lakes and waterfalls, bring together species from all five continents. The Biester Palace likewise combines architectural and decorative richness with the exuberance of its surrounding gardens, whose botanical collection includes exotic species from regions as diverse as Japan, Australia and North America.
The new cultural offer is available on Parques de Sintra’s ticketing platform.
