Visiting Sintra’s monuments? Park for free at Lourel
08 Jul 2026
Visitors arriving in Sintra by car can park free of charge at the Lourel car park and continue directly to the main monuments using public bus routes 434 and 435.
With around 540 free parking spaces, the car park serves as one of the main visitor reception and distribution points, allowing drivers to leave their vehicles outside the areas with the highest traffic pressure and continue their journey by public transport.
From the car park itself, visitors can use bus routes 434 and 435, which provide connections to the main attractions in the Sintra Hills and the Cultural Landscape of Sintra.
Bus route 434 provides access to the Park and National Palace of Pena and the Moorish Castle, while route 435 connects, among other locations, to the Park and Palace of Monserrate.
Information and tickets available at the car park
At the Lourel car park, visitors will also find a Parques de Sintra information point, where they can obtain information, ask questions and purchase tickets for the monuments.
The Parques de Sintra online ticket office also allows visitors to plan their visit in advance by purchasing, in a single transaction, both their monument ticket and 24-hour transport on bus routes 434 and 435.
This makes it possible to organise the visit in advance, choose an entry time for the monuments and plan travel between the different points of interest.
