In the time of Pedro III, this area served as the waiting room for the monarch’s servants and page boys. On the occasion of the summer festivals of St. John and St. Peter, the room was “set up” for banquets and suppers. The Prince Regent, the future João VI, adopted it for ministerial meetings, audiences and dispatching orders.
