Refurbishment works at the Palace of Monserrate

As part of Parques de Sintra’s ongoing strategy for the preservation, enhancement, and sustainable maintenance of the historic heritage under its care, restoration works are currently under way on the roofing and the fresh-preparation pantry area of the Palace of Monserrate.

Until the end of the first quarter of 2027, the intervention will be carried out in phases, given the complexity and scale of the work involved. The Palace of Monserrate will remain open to the public, with all necessary safety conditions ensured. The refurbishment requires the installation of scaffolding and a temporary protective cover, safeguarding the building, the working teams, and visitors, while also minimising the visual impact.

The works in progress aim to ensure the conservation and stability of the roofing and associated structural elements, as well as the preservation of the exterior wall surfaces (and their components) as well as the material integrity of the fresh-preparation pantry.
