16/12/2025: Park and National Palace of Pena, Moorish Castle, Park and Palace of Monserrate and Convent of the Capuchos closed

Due to adverse weather conditions in the municipality of Sintra, particularly strong winds in the Sintra hills, the Moorish Castle, the Park and National Palace of Pena, the Park and Palace of Monserrate and the Convent of the Capuchos are closed today, 16 December, 2025.

For safety reasons, road access to the Moorish Castle, the National Palace of Pena and the Palace of Monserrate is restricted, with circulation limited to buses only, in order to ensure the transport of visitors who are still at the monuments.

Pedestrian access to Vila Sassetti is also closed.

We recommend extra caution when travelling in the Sintra hills and kindly ask for everyone’s understanding.
