05/09/2025 – Road Access Closure to Pena and the Moorish Castle
As a result of a rupture in a water distribution pipeline at the junction of Rua Bernardim Ribeiro with Escadinhas Visconde de Ouguela (Sintra town), on 5 September 2025 at 5:00 pm, a repair intervention will begin, requiring the closure of road traffic along Calçada de São Pedro.
IMMEDIATE IMPACT

Road access to the Park and National Palace of Pena and the Moorish Castle is temporarily unavailable.

Public transport will be unable to pick up visitors currently at the monuments.
Sintra's water supply services have indicated that water supply normalisation in Sintra town is expected by 10:00 pm.
OPERATIONAL PLAN
- Parques de Sintra, in coordination with the relevant authorities and Scotturb, will ensure transport for visitors finishing their visit at the Palace of Pena and the Moorish Castle.
- Transport will be provided as visits conclude, ensuring safe removal and return to designated points.
