Jazz at Monserrate 2025

Jazz at Monserrate

At a time when the world seems increasingly fragmented, Jazz at Monserrate 2025 sets out to be a space for connection and attentive listening, where music becomes the starting point for this year’s theme: “Bridges and Dialogues.”

This edition celebrates the meeting of jazz with other artistic and musical expressions, presenting it as an open, porous and profoundly human language. It stands out for its desire to show how jazz engages in dialogue with the world: from classical music to Mozambican and South American traditions, as well as Portuguese music and contemporary dance. Each project reveals how jazz is transformed and enriched through contact with other languages and cultures — without losing its essential spirit of improvisation, listening and freedom.

Bridges will be built between jazz and different forms of expression, in an invitation to discover new creative possibilities — a fertile ground for encounters, where sound gives rise to movement, memory and future.

The festival’s three core pillars remain unchanged: to showcase the breadth of jazz, to offer learning opportunities to young musicians, and to create informal, intergenerational moments of exchange. By nurturing these bridges — between genres, artists, generations and audiences — Jazz at Monserrate continues to establish itself as a festival with cultural and social responsibility, rooted in its community and open to the world.
