At the Apex of Time

During the visit ‘At the Apex of Time’, led by the curator and restorer responsible for restoring this complex time machine, visitors will discover how the clock was brought back to life after remaining silent for decades. They’ll be welcomed inside the Clock Tower, leading to a tower of the palace that is not included in the tour circuit. Visitors will climb a steep and a narrow spiral staircase, visiting the mechanism that powers this remarkable example of high-precision mechanical engineering through different floors before reaching the top of the tower, the highest point in the Sintra Mountains, offering spectacular views.
Accessibility
Entry via a steep, narrow staircase. Not recommended for people with vertigo or claustrophobia, nor children under 12 years old. The activity will be cancelled in the event of rain.
