Guided tour to the Convent of the Capuchos

Discover this sixteenth-century Franciscan convent, where manmade construction blends into the natural landscape. We’ll see how the convent was built into the rocky crags of the mountain range, respecting the surrounding forest. Taking visitors through narrow corridors, low doorways and small cells, the tour reveals the purpose of the different parts of the convent and the way in which the community of friars lived in perfect harmony with the landscape around them. At the end of the tour, visitors can see some of Sintra’s autochthonous tree species by following the path along the convent’s perimeter fence.
