Recovery of the watering system in the Garden of the Countess of Edla and Pena Farm6 December , 2013
In November Parques de Sintra began a project designed to recover the watering system in the Garden of the Countess of Edla and the Pena Farm, which had been damaged by a storm last January.
The project includes various works designed to return the system to its pre-storm condition. In this area of the Park, the automatic watering system is not currently working and some gutters, borders, walls and pavements are damaged.
The project also includes the removal of fallen trees and the cleaning of vegetation that spread across the area after being battered by the storm.
The work involves the detection and correction of leaks in the main and secondary watering systems, the substitution of valves and sprinklers which were damaged by falling trees.
The built elements will also be repaired, including ditches, culverts and sinks, flower beds will be trimmed and pavements and steps treated. The work is expected to continue until the end of the year.
