The 3rd Campaign of Archaeological Investigation Field Work of the Moorish Castle is set to run until the 30th of July.

The work conducted so far has uncovered part of a necropolis associated with the Church of São Pedro de Canaferrim and also a water drainage gallery associated with the Cistern.

The artefacts unearthed thus far demonstrate that the area was largely occupied, with items such as flint tools, pottery and traces of weaponry of Islamic and Christian chronology being found.
